COVID-19 testing clinic complete in Harbour Breton

Central Health would like to advise that the temporary COVID-19 testing clinic in Harbour Breton will finish on Thursday, December 17th, 2020.

This temporary clinic was set up as part of the public health investigation to determine how community members may have acquired their infection with the COVID-19 virus. Being tested is an opportunity to help protect the health of all residents.

Over 1000 residents of Harbour Breton have been tested and there have been no additional individuals identified in the community who have COVID-19, and no indication of widespread community transmission. For those reasons, public health has determined that broad testing of people without symptoms does not need to continue at this time. Any residents, with or without symptoms, still wishing to book a COVID-19 test are encouraged to call 811 to book an appointment. Following the closure of the temporary testing clinic, residents with symptoms should continue to use the online COVID-19 screening tool and call 811 to book appointments as they did previously. Individuals without symptoms will no longer be eligible for testing unless they are specifically identified by public health, for example, rotational workers.

Central Health would like to thank the residents of the Harbour Breton area for their continued patience and cooperation.

Everyone is reminded to follow public health measures including wearing masks, practicing good hand hygiene, staying home as much as possible and avoid holding gatherings for the time being.
