COVID-19 testing clinic complete in Lewisporte

Central Health would like to advise that the temporary COVID-19 testing clinic in Lewisporte will finish on Thursday, May 27th, 2021. The individuals who are to be tested on Thursday are being contacted by Public Health.

This temporary clinic was set up as part of the Public Health investigation to help determine whether there has been transmission of the COVID-19 virus within the region. Being tested is an opportunity to help protect the health of all residents.

Over 1,500 individuals have been tested. Based on the goals set for community testing, and information from other parts of the investigation, Public Health has determined that broad testing of people without symptoms does not need to continue at this time. If a need is identified in Lewisporte, or another part of the region, asymptomatic testing will be set up.

Following the closure of the temporary testing clinic:

  • Individuals with symptoms should continue to use the online COVID-19 screening tool OR call 811 to book appointments as they did previously.

  • Individuals without symptoms will no longer be eligible for testing unless they are specifically identified by Public Health, for example, contacts of someone who is positive or rotational workers.

Central Health would like to thank the residents of Lewisporte and surrounding areas for their continued patience and cooperation.

Everyone is reminded to follow public health measures including wearing masks, practicing good hand hygiene, staying home as much as possible and avoid holding gatherings for the time being.
