COVID testing for residents of New World Island and Twillingate Area Friday to Sunday

September 24, 2021

Central Health would like to advise that due to new cases of COVID-19 identified in the Central Region, COVID-19 testing continues to be available to individuals in the New World Island and Twillingate Area. Clinics are being offered today, Friday, September 24, to Sunday September 26, at the George Hawkins Memorial Arena. Testing will be available to those who are close contacts of confirmed case(s), symptomatic individuals in the community, and students of New World Island Academy in Summerford.

Clinics being held at the George Hawkins Memorial Arena will take place:

  • Friday, September 24, 2021 from 9:00am – 7:00pm.

  • Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 9:00am – 7:00pm.

  • Sunday, September 26, 2021 from 10:00am - 5:00pm.

There is no need to book an appointment as walk-ins are encouraged. Individuals are asked to present to the clinic and remain in their vehicles until advised to move inside. Individuals are asked to remain patient, respectful and to expect some wait time depending on how many people show up at any given time.

As with the standard COVID-19 test, test results will not be available to patients at the point of testing. Staff performing tests will advise individuals how to access results online. All individuals with symptoms are advised to isolate.

This broader testing is part of the public health investigation to determine the level of possible COVID-19 spread in the community. Being tested is an opportunity to help protect the health of all residents. Being tested is an opportunity to help protect the health of all residents.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
