Updated: Oct 12, 2021

Updated October 12, 2021

October 7, 2021

As of October 1, 2021, Central Health implemented visitor restrictions at all Central Health facilities. Visitor restrictions differ at outbreak (Alert Level 3) and non-outbreak sites.

Sites where an outbreak is present or in an Alert Level 3 area

Visitor Restrictions of one essential visitor per patient/resident will be in place at:

  • Bonnews Lodge, New-Wes-Valley

  • Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor

  • Dr. Y. K. Jeon Kittiwake Health Centre, New-Wes-Valley

  • Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre, Twillingate

  • Valley Vista Senior Citizens’ Home, Springdale

An essential visitor is essential to the client needs. For example, a patient who has specific challenges resulting in compromised comprehension, decision-making or mobility due to disability or onset of a medical condition will require an essential visitor/support person when attending outpatient/ambulatory clinic appointments or presenting at the emergency department. For pediatric patients – both parents/guardians may be designated as essential visitors. Once identified, the essential visitor should remain constant.

All other sites

Visitor Restrictions of one designated visitor per patient/resident will be in place at all other sites. A support person/designated visitor can be a loved one, friend, paid caregiver, or other person of the patient/resident’s choosing. Once identified, the support person/designated visitor should remain constant for the duration of the visiting restrictions at health care facilities and residential care homes.

Visitor screening is still in place. Please call your loved ones facility to confirm times for visitation. Palliative care visitations will be determined in collaboration with the family and care team.

Emergency department services and scheduled outpatient appointments are not affected.

Individuals requiring information about their loved ones should phone the appropriate nursing unit.

Central Health would like to thank the public for their understanding and co-operation at this time.
